Vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty are cementing techniques in these a special type of cement is introduced into the fractured vertebrae to act as a support system . this cement helps prevent motion at the fractured site and glues the fractured bone together thus helping in pain reduction. However if the patient has already developed weakness then mere pain management procedures as above are not sufficient and there arises a need for fixation with screws and rods along with decompression of the cord at involved level. But owing to osteoporotic nature of bones there may arise a need to use special cement augmented screws for better support.
